Class 150 Forged Stainless Steel Flanged Globe Valve

Shangtai Class 150 Forged Stainless Steel Flanged Globe Valve delivers superior flow control and corrosion resistance. Featuring robust forged construction and easy flanged installation, it ensures reliable sealing for critical piping systems.

The Class 150 Forged Stainless Steel Flanged Globe Valve is a forged stainless steel globe valve for industrial piping and process equipment. It uses a linear-moving disc for shut-off and flow regulation, with RF-compatible flanged ends and handwheel operation. The valve is available in 1/2" to 2" sizes with F304 and F316 material options.

The forged body, disc, stem and seat materials can be selected according to the working medium, pressure and temperature. The valve specification also includes NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements for applicable service conditions.

Construction and Service Conditions

The valve body is made from ASTM A182 F304 or F316 forged stainless steel. The disc moves along the valve axis and closes against the seat. Turning the handwheel changes the disc position, allowing the valve to be used for shut-off or controlled flow adjustment.

The disc is available in ASTM A182 F304 or ASTM A182 F316 with an STL#6 option as listed in the specification. The stem and seat are available in F304 or F316. Material selection should take into account the process fluid, concentration, operating temperature and corrosion conditions.

The valve is rated CL150 with a listed maximum working pressure of 285 PSI. The specified temperature range is -29℃ + 425℃. Actual allowable pressure should be checked against the applicable pressure-temperature rating at the operating temperature.

Flanged Connection and Applications

The Class 150 Forged Stainless Steel Flanged Globe Valve uses RF-compatible flanged ends with ASME B16.5 specified for the connection standard. The flanged connection allows the valve to be bolted to a matching pipeline flange and removed when inspection or maintenance is required.

Before installation, check the flange size, pressure class, gasket, bolting and face-to-face dimension. The pipeline should be aligned correctly to avoid excessive mechanical load on the valve connection.

The valve can be used in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, industrial utilities and other piping systems where stainless steel construction and manual flow control are required. Suitable media may include water, steam, air, oil and compatible process fluids within the specified pressure, temperature and material limits.

Globe valves normally have a higher pressure drop than straight-through isolation valves because of the internal flow path. Where the valve will be used for continuous flow regulation, the required flow rate, pressure drop and operating frequency should be considered during sizing.

Selection, Testing and FAQ

When ordering, provide the valve size, pressure class, flange standard, medium, operating pressure, temperature, body and trim materials, quantity and any special inspection or documentation requirements. For replacement applications, existing valve drawings, nameplate information or face-to-face dimensions can be used for configuration confirmation.

The specification lists API 602 for design and manufacturing, ASME B16.10 for face-to-face dimensions, ASME B16.34 for pressure-temperature ratings and API 598 for testing and inspection. Inspection can include material verification, dimensional checks, shell testing, seat leakage testing and final operating inspection according to the applicable requirements.

Shangtai manufactures industrial valves in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China. Production covers machining, assembly, testing and inspection, with product documentation available according to the order requirements.

1. What is a forged stainless steel globe valve used for?

A forged stainless steel globe valve is used for manual shut-off and flow regulation. The linear movement of the disc allows the opening to be adjusted according to the required flow conditions.

2. What is the difference between a globe valve and a gate valve?

A globe valve uses a disc that moves toward the seat and is suitable for both shut-off and flow regulation. A gate valve uses a gate that moves vertically and is generally used for isolation service when fully open or fully closed.

3. Can F304 and F316 materials be selected?

Yes. The specification lists ASTM A182 F304 and F316 options for the body, stem and seat. The appropriate material should be selected according to the medium, temperature and corrosion conditions.

4. What information is needed for valve selection?

Key information includes valve size, pressure class, flange standard, medium, operating pressure, temperature, material requirements and any NACE or inspection requirements. Existing drawings can also be provided for replacement valve confirmation.

5. Can other materials be supplied?

Yes. Other materials are available upon request. The required material combination should be confirmed according to the service medium, operating conditions and applicable project specifications.

6. What is the function of the flanged connection?

The flanged connection allows the valve to be bolted to matching pipeline flanges. It also allows the valve to be removed from the pipeline for inspection or maintenance without cutting the pipe.

7. What is a Class 150 Forged Stainless Steel Flanged Globe Valve?

It combines a forged stainless steel valve body with Class 150 flanged ends and a globe-valve disc mechanism. It is intended for compatible industrial fluids within the specified pressure, temperature and material limits.
