Shangtai is pleased to announce the official release of its new high pressure ball valve series, engineered for PN64 (Class 400) working conditions. This product line fills a gap between standard low-pressure ball valves and high-spec forged steel ball valves, delivering a pressure-rated option at a more optimized cost point.

Developed for industrial fluid systems, the series is available in two body configurations, with material, end connection and actuation options to suit different installation and operating requirements.

Product Background: Addressing the Pressure-Cost Gap

In many industrial fluid systems, actual operating pressure exceeds the rating of standard PN16/PN25 or 1000WOG ball valves, yet does not reach the threshold that requires a full forged steel Class 600 or Class 800 valve. Engineers and procurement teams may therefore need to specify forged ball valves for safety, paying a significant cost premium for pressure capacity that remains largely unused.

A Mid-to-High Pressure Option

Shangtai developed this PN64 / Class 400 cast high pressure ball valve series to address this mismatch. Built using precision investment casting technology and designed with reference to ASME B16.34, the series is intended to provide a cost-conscious option for mid-to-high pressure pipelines without the material and machining overhead associated with forged construction.

Confirm the applicable pressure-temperature rating for the selected material and configuration before specifying the valve. PN64 and ASME Class 400 are different rating systems and should not automatically be treated as interchangeable.

2-Piece High Pressure Cast Ball Valve

The 2P2I model features a two-piece body construction optimized for compact inline installation. Its face-to-face length and wall thickness are purpose-engineered for PN64 service, differentiating it from common heavy-pattern ball valves on the market.

Important Notice to Purchasers

A number of suppliers currently market standard heavy-body ball valves relabeled as 2000WOG, but their actual wall thickness and hydrostatic test rating may not meet true PN64 requirements. Misapplication of such products in high-pressure systems poses serious safety risks. Shangtai states that the 2P2I series is designed and pressure-tested for its specified pressure service, with dimensional and material specifications traceable to the applicable product documentation. Confirm the required rating and supporting records for the intended application.

3-Piece High Pressure Cast Ball Valve

The 3P2II model adopts a three-piece bolted body design, allowing inline disassembly and seat/stem maintenance without removing the valve from the pipeline. This configuration is suitable for process systems where maintenance access and reduced downtime are important.

A technical upgrade has been implemented on sizes DN32 (1-1/4") and above. Through iterative optimization of the gating system and casting process parameters, Shangtai's engineering team has worked to address common porosity and blowhole defects that can occur at specific body sections during casting.

CF8 (SS304)

General-purpose stainless steel for water, oil, gas and mildly corrosive media.

CF8M (SS316)

Enhanced corrosion resistance for chemical, seawater and acidic environments, subject to media compatibility.

WCB (Carbon Steel)

High strength and an economical option for high-temperature oil, gas and steam applications where carbon steel is suitable.
